Art Director

Job Description

• Managing onsite creative team and developing the design strategy
1. Co-supervise a cross-functional team of PPT and graphic designers and project managers in the strategic development and completion of deliverables on a day to day basis
2. Actively seek feedback from team heads, colleagues and key clients to quickly identify any training needs within the team, so that there is enough skill set and challenges are addressed in a proactive manner
3. Conduct brainstorming sessions with the team, maintaining strategic thinking to develop innovative and actionable initiatives
4. Implement planned initiatives that widen and strengthen skill set of the team
5. Motivate, coach and mentor members of the creative team
6. Communicate widely, so that all team members are fully aware of the changes that may be required and to ensure a consistent service-wide goal is being achieved
7. Establish and regularly review full creative processes and procedures for the team to ensure work is always produced to impeccable standards and work comes in on budget
• Project leadership
1. Take complex high-level design briefs, and communicate this information clearly to relevant members of the team/client in both written and verbal form
2. Handle the project management of the larger high-level tasks, to ensure the creative and professional solutions are in line with the campaign’s strategic goals, the clients’ preferred style and brand guidelines
3. Review and approve art and copy developed by the team, ensuring that deliverables address marketing goals and challenges effectively
4. Produce fresh, innovative work that translates complex ideas into compelling print materials and digital experiences for sophisticated audiences and as required by the clients/stakeholders
5. Oversee the presentation of final concepts, and obtain approvals for deliverables
• Client management
1. Promote the department across the global client business, identifying business opportunities and areas where the business unit could add value to our clients
2. Ensure high levels of client service and the efficient running of the studio through adherence to all best practice processes and recommending improvements
3. Meet with clients on a regular basis to provide a progress health-check throughout the life of high-level projects. Identify and pro-actively plan for future projects that are known to the client
4. Build intentional relationships with clients at all levels
• Lead the creative process
1. Foster a culture and environment that is conducive to creative inspiration, thinking and expertise
2. Manage team environment that motivates creative development where all participants are heard and respected, leading teams to inspiring work, and making the process fun
3. Understand, utilise, teach and champion processes and tools that facilitate productive creative sessions
4. Work in collaboration with other process owners in the team (Frontdesk, Production team, Quality) in ensuring all bankers have smooth experience in creating and delivering outstanding presentations
5. Synthesize real banker and operational experience to identify high impact areas of opportunity and provide proactive solutions
6. Oversee production to insure creative integrity, be a creative resource to the team as client needs or budget changes, and further develop the relationship with the client
• Work with the Director to generate business
1. Participate in key capabilities presentations
2. Clearly articulate our brand promise and provide anecdotal examples of how that promise can provide value to our clients. Preparing and presenting new business proposals and pitches to clients
3. Identifying and planning campaigns targeting new and existing clients with a view to selling our creative capabilities
4. Promoting creative capabilities within our company and to clients
• Be the Audience Advocate
1. Understand the clients' business objectives and how those objectives relate to the target audience
2. Know your target audience, their culture, language, likes and dislikes developing creative solutions that speak to them and follow their client principles
• Develop and manage relationships with a broad range of creative resources
1. Continually seek out new creative talent, and actively manage existing talent base
• Be aware of the world where our audiences live
1. Stay tuned in to business issues, particularly in key account industries
2. Keep abreast of cultural events and trends that affect your audiences. Read magazines and newspapers, surf the web etc

• Technical Skills

Should have a full understanding of services, processes, systems and procedures of design and print. Should be able to use appropriate best practice processes and systems to deliver high quality project management. Should demonstrate aptitude with regard to adoption of new technology and process. Recognized expertise developing strategic branding creative solutions for Fortune 500 clients
