Java Technical Manager
Job Description
We’re looking for a Java Technical Manager with expertise in Java technologies to join the leadership group of our Middleware (Java) team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a leading firm whilst being instrumental in the growth of a new service offering.
Management responsibilities:
▪ Experience in managing large Digital transformation programs in Agile methodologies
▪ Experience in the P&C Insurance industry and a functional understanding of how P&C Insurance works
▪ Must ensure teams follow the correct procedures, policies and documentation requirements across project phases
▪ Task allocation and performance evaluation of team members
▪ Project scheduling and resource management
▪ Planning, budgeting and reporting on projects
▪ Make presentations on project status, present weekly, monthly and annual reports to senior management
▪ Communicate with client teams and gather requirements, conduct regular team meetings and track project progress
▪ Provide an efficient working atmosphere to project teams and ensure objectives are met within stipulated time
▪ A background of working with development best practices.
▪ A willingness to be flexible in responding to issues as they occur and the ability to identify product/deployment improvements to mitigate future occurrences.
▪ Self-motivated, Strong communication and team building skills.
▪ Work iteratively in a team with continuous collaboration.
People responsibilities:

▪ Participating in the organization-wide people initiatives
▪ Ability to travel in accordance with client and other job requirements
▪ Excellent written and oral communication skills; writing, publishing and conference-level presentation skills a plus
▪ Be a part of case teams to provide solutions to unstructured problems

Qualification
Mandatory:
• Must have Bachelor's degree (Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management or a related field)
• 10 – 14 relevant years of experience
• Must have experience leading a team
• Knowledge on process methodologies – Agile/frameworks like CMMI
• Strong working experience in Java 8 and above or J2EE, Spring boot, Spring Cloud or Hibernate
• Strong working experience with open data systems/NO SQL (e.g., MongoDB, CassandraDB, CouchDB) or SQL Server/Oracle
• Solution Architect experience – doing technical designs, contributing to RFPs, etc.
• Working experience in Apache Camel, Reactive, Spring Kafka, Docker
• Deep understanding of front-end technologies like Angular, React etc.
• Experience in Node JS is a (good to have)
• Experience with messaging technologies (e.g. Kafka, MQ), Event processing technologies
• Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment.
• Experience implementing security such as OAuth, SAML, Single Sign On, Mobile Device Management, etc.
• Experience in implementing caching solutions
• Design and implement APIs, deep understanding of REST, SOAP, HTTP etc.
• Experience in cloud technologies – AWS or Azure (good-to have)
• Hands on experience in Microservices design and development
• Strong communication, presentation and team building skills
• Knowledge on design patterns
• Project management skills (must- have)
Other focus areas:
• Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment
• Experience in projects managed in accordance with AGILE (SCRUM) methodology
• Knowledge on writing Unit test cases and carrying out Unit testing using Junit
• Version control software exposure Git, SVN, Clear case, PVCS
• Should have understanding and experience of software development best practices/clean coding practices/clean coding practices
• Attention to detail and commitment to high quality/error free deliverables
• Lead the team to come up with High level solution design in response to RFPs and be an expert in sizing the project and estimating the effort
• Knowledge on the CMMI framework
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills leveraging all available resources
• Ability to connect technology with measurable business value
