Job Description

Are you the type of person who is curious about data?  Are you intrigued with how data flows from one system to the next?  You study data, how it’s constructed, how it relates to other pieces of information, who uses it and why it’s important to businesses.  If this sounds like you, Cambridge University Press has an opening for a Jr. Data Analyst role. This role is about visually representing and modelling how data is used within an organisation.  It’s about understanding how it flows from application to application.  It’s about understanding what happens to applications in the enterprise and its users when data changes. Therefore, the person who assumes this role must be creative in as much as they are analytical.  They must be good with tools and platforms that help them piece together many parts of a large and ever changing machine.   If any of this sounds like an exciting proposition, join us at “The Press”, a 500 year old printing institution at the forefront of media technology.

Qualification

[URGENT] Jr. Data Analyst About you:
  • You will have an extremely strong relationship with our six behavioural values; collaborative, decisive, empowering, innovative, responsible and responsive. The team with which you will be collaborating, is called Architecture.  It is a highly experienced group of strategic technologists who handle some of the most complex systems in the organisation.

  • The Architecture team is looking for recent college graduates or junior professionals with just a few years of experience to understand and model the organisation’s business and data landscape. This will require an obsessive eye for detail.  It will require an analyst’s mind as well as the ability to ask a lot of relevant questions.

  • Next, this role will be responsible for learning ArchiMate, an internationally recognised modelling language that describes rich enterprise systems. They must take this knowledge and start applying it right away using a modelling software called Sparx EA.  At the same time, the successful candidate must be able to learn the Press’ business in parallel.  In short, this position favours those who thrive in fast paced, knowledge oriented environments.

  • Lastly, you have the intangibles. Your colleagues attest to your positive attitude, and the value it brings to small teams.  You are fun to work with.  You can speak English well.  You can use your communication skills to articulate complex ideas visually.  You can politically (and politely), push back on bad ideas, while being able to promote good ideas.  You have a passion for what you do.
